Dr. Cheryl F. Green has been appointed assistant vice president for Student Affairs at Tennessee State University.
A Chicago native, Dr. Green comes to TSU with more than 20 years of experience in higher education and student affairs. She will oversee the Health Center, the Counseling Center and the Floyd-Payne Campus Center.
“Dr. Green brings a wealth of academic affairs and student support service experience,” said Dr. Adrian Samuels, vice president for Student Affairs, in announcing the appointment of the long-time educator. “I am excited to have her join us.”
For many years Green worked in various capacities at Chicago State University. Before coming to TSU she was the dean of the First-Year/Freshman Experience and chair of the Dept. of Counseling at CSU.
“I am very excited about my appointment at TSU,” said Dr. Green. “I have spent my professional career helping students facilitate the change that results from becoming enlightened, informed and involved. I look forward to continuing this work through my service to the Division of Student Affairs and the campus community.”
Green holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Manchester College in North Manchester, Ind.
She is a recognized expert in grievance mediation and conflict resolution, and holds a certificate in crisis intervention.
