Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Fisk University’s observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Convocation will be held in the Clinton B. Fisk Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013.

Our speaker will be Dr. William W. Morris, retired Bishop of the United Methodist Church. Prior to being elected to the Episcopacy, he served as senior pastor of local churches in Tennessee, including Stanley Methodist Church in Chattanooga, John Wesley United Methodist Church in Nashville and First United Methodist Church in Gallatin. After retirement, he served as the Interim General Secretary of the General Commission on United Methodist Men and interim pastor of several churches. He believes that the local church is very important to achieve the mission of the United Methodist Church, “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

We will recognize Fall 2012 Presidential and Provost Scholars at the Convocation.

We cordially invite you and members of the Greater Nashville community to join us.
