Expressions of faith: From traditional to spiritual belief

by PRIDE Newsdesk

Rev. William Watson

When Jesus began His ministry, He brought about a change from a ‘traditional’ belief to a ‘spiritual’ belief—a belief not just for the status quo but for all people who would truly believe He is the Son of God. Jesus Christ became salvation for all mankind and the light of the world. Today, it seems like we are slipping back to a traditional religion that’s less doctrinal and more personal, causing so many people to become devoted to causes (work in the church) with so few devoted to Jesus Christ. We consider what we do in the way of Christian work as service, yet Jesus calls service to be what we are to Him, not what we do for Him. Our Lord’s primary obedience was to the will of His Father, not to the needs of people.

The educated minds of today can be offensive to Jesus Christ. The mind is the greatest gift God has given us, and it should be devoted entirely to Him. Is your mind stayed on God? Jesus Christ makes Himself the test to determine your genuineness. At the most unexpected moments in your life there is this whisper of the Lord saying, “Come unto Me.” Beware of surrender that is motivated by personal benefits. Being delivered from sin and being made Holy are the results of being right with God: “…ye must be born again.” We have become so self-centered that we go to God only for something from Him and not for God Himself.

Get in a good Bible Study Class “…and learn of me.” Remember whose you are and whom you serve, and your mind will become quick and enthusiastic, and your hope will be bright. My weekly prayer is that the reader of this commentary becomes spiritually inspired of God. Become a Prayer Partner with Expressions of Faith by contacting: Expressions of Faith, P.O.
