When we reach out to those that are hurting and standing in need, we are showing the world Christ’s greatest attribute. That is His Love.
Just remember when Christ was here on earth, everywhere He went He served and met the need of His people.
We all know someone we can reach out to, to let them know that we care about what they may be going through. We want them to know that they are not alone, because a friend loves at all times.
Life can sometimes catch us completely off guard, and there will be things that we must face and challenges to meet.
When we are weighed down with the cares of this old world, it’s good to know that friends are there to lift us up when our wings have problems remembering how to fly. That’s love!
No one can package or bottle the ‘appropriate’ response to suffering. If you go to the sufferers themselves, some will recall a friend who cheerily helped distract them from an illness. Others think such an approach insulting. Some want honesty, straightforward talk. Others find such discussions unbearably depressing.
There is no magic cure for a person in pain. Mainly people need love, for love instinctively detects what is needed. “Wounded people who have been broken by suffering and sickness ask for only one thing—a heart that loves and commits itself to them, a heart full of hope for them.”
God often uses very ordinary people to bring about His healing. Those who suffer don’t need our knowledge and wisdom; they need our love!
Look ‘for opportunities to reach out to those that might be going through a ‘valley-experience. Just make a simple phone call or put a card in the mail to let them know that you are praying for them and that you are there if they need you.
Just remember, the future is not ours to see. We don’t know what lies ahead for us. But if we will sow into the lives of others, they will be there for us in our time of need. “Say’s we reap what we sow,” Galatians 6:7.
