The summertime is not all camps and playgrounds. Just a few short weeks ago many young people gathered at Preston Taylor Homes in north Nashville to hear a word from Rev. Barbara Woods-Washington. Washington was one of the nightly guest ministers for the Preston Taylor Ministries that held the youth revival.
As Washington began, she told the teenagers that were sitting on the benches facing her, “Your life depends on Bible; your life depends on scripture and if you don’t remember anything that I say tonight—remember Romans 12:9. It says, ‘Let the love of God be genuine—hate what is evil; and hold fast to what is good.’”
She talked about gold medals, letting them know that some of them have gold medal potential. “You have a gift that God has given you—you’re going to be influenced by folk that will convince you to move away from your commitment… You have got some gifts that you have yet to discover.”
Washington also encouraged the youth to “know scripture and know that there is power in the name of Jesus because it will sustain your life.”
Rev. Washington prayed with the youth and gave blessings over their lives.
The Youth Revival was under the direction of Tessa Frolick, of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and one of the youth ministers and directors of Preston Taylor Ministries.
