Dr. Dororthy Brown Prayer Breakfast Hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

Recently, Nashville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta celebrated the Legacy of De. Dorothy Lavinia Brown by hosting a Dr. Dorothy Brown Prayer Breakfast. The breakfast was held at the Hutton Hotel. Key note speaker was Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook, Former United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religions Freedom, as appointed by President Barack Obama.

The Co-Chairs of the Breakfast were Ms. Twila Smith and Ms. Michelle Alford. The moderator of the program was Mrs. Rolanda’ Crawley. The greeting was brought by the Rev. Olivia Cloud, President, Nashville Alumnae Chapter of DST and Ms. Alexandria Osborne, Miss Jabberwock 2013. The Rev. Robin Kimbrough did the invocation. The Dr. Dorothy Brown Humanitarian Awards were presented to community activists Ms. Rasheedat Fetuga and Mr. Keith Caldwell. Community organizations recognized were Mornings Start Sanctuary. A Non-traditional Scholarship was presented to Ms. Camille Wates.

Taking back our community prayers were presented for Physical and Mental Health, CANCER: Choose Hope, by Ms. April Johnson. Political Awareness and Involvement, “The Fight Is Not Finished” by Ms. Connie Dennell, Community Advocate and Radio Personality, 92Q Economic Development, “Break the Chains” were delivered by Minister Shelbie Webster of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The program concluded with a dynamic keynote by Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook and community charge by Ms. Michelle Alford. Rep. Brenda Gilmore is the President of the Minerva Foundation. Vice President Betty Thompson presided in her absence.
