GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1004 South Dickerson Road, in Goodlettsville, Tenn. held their third annual Deacon Ernest Jennings Scholarship Banquet on June 28 in the Haley Impact Center.
The keynote speaker was Renee Kelly, principal of West Valley Middle School in Knoxville, Tenn. The theme was ‘A New Era of Possibilities.’ Fairfield had eight high school students who graduated, including: Eshauna Bell, (Hume Fogg High School); Marlon Brown, (McGavock High School); Alexis Figgins, (Maplewood High School); Tarrion Jordan, (Maplewood High School); Cadijah Moore, (Lead Academy); Keturah Nabaa, (Lead Academy); Tatiana White, (McGavock High School); and Bria Williams, (Nashville School of the Arts).
Minister Sondrea L. Tolbert was the mistress of ceremonies. Rev. Howard E. Jones, Jr. spoke about the late Deacon Jennings and lit a candle in his memory.
Chef Sally Moreland prepared a tasty menu of tossed salad, baked chicken breast, green beans, rosemary roasted potatoes, rolls, tea/lemonade and lemon and red velvet cakes.
Attendees were entertained by the beautiful voice of Sebra Owens. Keshandria Hayes, an eight-grade student from East Middle School, played the clarinet.
Sister Mary Davis, mother of Renee Kelly introduced her.
Three of the 2014 high school graduates were awarded scholarships, including: Alexis Figgins, Cadijah Moore, and Bria Williams.
