Back in Nashville, purple hair and all, Chris Brown displayed his Between The Sheets Tour. The 26-date gig made a pit stop at the Bridgestone Arena, kicking off the month with a bang March 1. It had been postponed last month after a judge ordered Brown to complete 1,000 hours of community service, a stipulation from his probation for his 2009 assault of then girlfriend Rihanna. Legal worries dismissed, Breezy and Trey glided through their staggering collection of hits. With a mix of radio bangers and bedroom tunes, they had the ladies trembling.
After Tyga’s brief solo stint, Brown kicked off his set with the dance track “X” as he crimped across the stage in a wind breaker, skinny jeans and a fitted cap. He leaned on dance sequences and nostalgia to hype the crowd even more. His 2014 X album topped the charts. On stage, Breezy escaped the judgment and found himself alongside talented young guns. Brown brought his rhythm and gangsta in with Tyga, who recently released a collaborative album with Brown, Fan of a Fan late last month, with G-Unit as their lone guests. Speaking of G-Unit, Young Buck was in the building. Alongside his family, he gave a shout out to Chris Brown, showing him love on Instagram after the show.
The ladies have loved Trey Songz since his cornrow days. Songz ran through a soundtrack appropriate for after dark behavior. ‘I Invented Sex’ and ‘Love Faces’ were just a couple in a sprinkle of chest pounding love songs. He kept the levels turned up, going shirtless and baring abs. “Oh my god, I love him”, one hyper female fan shouted, referring to Songz.
You could call it halftime, with the two singers joining forces, doing a double take. They posted up in red love seats on opposite ends of the stage to perform their signature classics. Illuminated stage screens with accurate visual aids for every part of the show were consistently on display. Brown and Songz went back and forth, tag teaming the predominantly female crowd continuously from each side of the stage with hits like ‘Take You Down,’ ‘Neighbors Know My Name,’ ‘Dive In,’ and ‘Panty Droppa.’ The Virginia natives continued lighting the fire, knocking them out, back to back to back. They didn’t even need a band. The musical backing all night was strictly tracks. The audience couldn’t cared less.
After the abundance of chart toppers, Brown saved his most recent hit for last: ‘Loyal.’ Well, of course. As the confetti showered the lower deck, leaving more to be desired, it was clear that the show had come to it’s conclusion, leaving one female fan to say, “I wasn’t a fan of Tyga until tonight”. #BTStour
