At the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., 70th South Central Province Council held in Murfreesboro, Tenn., April 9-12, Nashville Alumni Chapter and the local undergraduate chapters captured several awards. This council includes chapters from Tennessee, Kentucky, and northern Mississippi.

Nashville Alumni Chapter’s Polemarch Dr. Gregory Clark was named Alumni Brother of the Year. Two members of the Alpha Theta Chapter at Tennessee State University were named Kappa Scholars for their academic achievement: Terry Cunningham and Spencor Hall. Also recognized was Zachary Brown of Nu Rho Chapter at Vanderbilt University. The Alpha Chapter also won Large Undergraduate of the Year. They will compete in this category at the Grand Conclave held in New Orleans in August. Rev. Roderick Glatt is the Province Chaplin.

At the 89th Founders Day celebration of the Nashville Alumni Chapter, April 24, Dr. James Ellzy was named Alumni Brother of the Year. Derek Woods was named New Brother of the Year. Dr. Jim Murrell received the H. H. Holloway Award. This is the highest award given by the Nashville Alumni. James Dukes was the speaker for the occasion.

Kappa Alpha Psi is a collegiate Greek-letter fraternity with a predominantly African American membership. Since the fraternity’s founding on January 5, 1911 at Indiana University Bloomington, it has never limited membership based on color, creed or national origin.

The fraternity has over 150,000 members with 721 undergraduate and alumni chapters in every state of the United States, and international chapters in the United Kingdom, Germany, Korea, Japan, United States Virgin Islands, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Kappa Alpha Psi sponsors programs providing community service, social welfare and academic scholarship through the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation and is a supporter of the United Negro College Fund and Habitat for Humanity. Kappa Alpha Psi is a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC).
