The Temple Church will transform the Jean Bledsoe Gymnasium into an area of business exchange with its 15th year of the Temple Business Expo during the weekend of October 25.

Following each Sunday morning worship service, on October 25, the business expo will be open to members, the community and the public to gather information, network and shop.

During its beginning, the Temple Business Expo started with approximately 12 vendors.

“We have to do the same thing that I did in the corporate world in Indiana for the Black Expo in Indiana,” said Andrea Moore, coordinator of Temple Business Expo. “The pastor of the church wanted to highlight the businesses in the church.”

After years of continuous pushing, this third week in October remains a day of celebrating the in-house entrepreneurs of the church. It has grown to approximately 50-70 vendors each year. This year is no different with over 50 vendors already registered and ready to sell their wares and services.

One of the additional things added to this annual Business Expo is the business seminar that is held on the Saturday prior to the event from 10 am-noon.

This year’s Lunch & Learn seminar will feature the following speakers: Andre Moore, business owner for over 15 years and published author since 2009 who has sold over 5,000 books. The topic will be, ‘So You Want to Write a Book?’ Beverly Watson-Elam will be the second featured speaker. Watson-Elam is the owner of Elam Janitorial Service, which has been meeting professional needs since 2005. She is also a registered mentor with S.C.O.R.E. Her topic will be ‘Encompassing the ABCs of General Business.’

As the business vendors have expanded, so have the facets of this business expo. While it began with members of the congregation, other business owners have been welcomed also.

The vendors slated to hold a spot in this year’s business expo range from small businesses to Matthew Walker and the YMCA.
Participating businesses will be those in the areas of real estate, shoe shining, jewelry, apparel, catering, travel agents/services, retail, tax preparation, insurance, collectors, and much, much more.
