Members of Historic First Community Church (HFCC), 1815 Knowles Street, joined family and friends in honoring Elder Glenn V. Clay on his 11th year anniversary at the church. On February 5, the 10 am worship service celebrated Elder Clay, First Lady Ella Clay and their family.
Elder Glenn Clay has been serving the HFCC for the past 11 years as a leader in the spiritual care of the members and the surrounding community. Clay co-facilitated the Julian Bond Scholarship event presented by the Nashville Chapter of the NAACP and Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church while continuing to reach out to the community in efforts to impact the kingdom of God.
“We are extremely joyful for the souls saved and new members that joined this year,” said Elder Clay. “Through all auxiliaries and sometimes individual efforts, we demonstrate love to God. I have seen our entire congregation grow spiritually within these past 11 years, and I am truly grateful that God has allowed me to pastor such a wonderful flock.”

Those attending the morning worship celebration enjoyed a message from Terrell Broady, deacon at Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church and CEO of Terrell Broady Funeral Home, Inc. Broady spoke from the perspective of Elder Clay’s history at HFCC and the things he has seen over the past 11 years, giving a clear depiction of the types of challenges a pastor encounters as he leads his congregation. Broady’s discussion was entitled ‘Now Unto Him Who is Able To Do.’
Following the sermon, the members of the Pastor’s Anniversary Committee presented Elder Clay, First Lady and his family with gifts in recognition of their dedicated service and the support from his family. One gift to Elder Clay included a beautiful pastor’s robe.
Following the worship service, a delicious meal was served in the fellowship hall.
Historic First Community Church is located at 1815 Knowles Street where the pastor is Elder Glenn V. Clay.
