During this season of Lent, let us remember the power and ability of God to do the impossible in our lives. One of the risks that we face in our Christian journey is to give up on God. It is so easy to do, especially if our circumstances are caving in on us. But we need to remain encouraged and know that God may not come when we want him. But he is right on time. All we have to do is watch God do it.

We all know the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. The emotions, desperation, and hopelessness of the sisters reflect every human’s need for God to do the impossible in our lives. For the sisters, it was the healing of their brother Lazarus. Upon receiving word that Lazarus was dying, he intentionally delayed his trip to Jerusalem. When he finally showed up, Lazarus had been dead for four days, and Mary and Martha were disappointed with Jesus. We have all been there with Jesus. Jesus lets the sisters know that even though Lazarus had been dead, he could still do something about it. On his way to the tomb to raise Lazarus, some onlookers said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?” John 11:37.

They were right. If Jesus can accomplish one thing, he can do the other. Watch him do it. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Jesus delayed getting to Lazarus, because he wanted everyone to see what God could do. As we go through our Lazarus situations, let us wait patiently on the Lord and watch him do it. When it is all done, we will know that God did it, and he was the only one who could have done it.

We do not have to rely on these big miracles performed in our lives to recognize God’s activity in our lives. We do not have to look further than the mirror, our closets, our pay stubs, our children, and the food on the table to witness the power of God.

There were times we may not have had a dime to our name, but we watched and waited patiently on the Lord. As we celebrate resurrection power, believe and watch God do it.
