Expressions of Faith: Battle is already won

As Christians, all of us face the world in which we live and are confronted with the need to battle with the evil that dominates it. To see less evil in this world, we must first overcome the evil that is streaming from our own hearts—then challenge the evil around us. I was once told that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future. I find that to be true. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. It’s not the individual. It’s the spirit in the individual.

Ephesians 6:12 says: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

To wrestle means to go hand and hand in battle. This is the reason why you should change your situation and perspective. There is purpose in going to battle, even if it means you have to sweat and get dirty in the process. Do you know that you are a child of God and that God loves you? What you are going through, the battle that you are fighting, the struggle you are going through is already won. Do you believe that? I say that’s good news. God is good.

1 John 4:4 says: “You are from God little children and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you, is greater than the one who is in the world.” Satan doesn’t want us to believe that, but as followers of Jesus Christ we are victorious! Satan is very real and evil. Yes, he comes to steal, kill and destroy our lives. We are in a spiritual battle with him every single day, but we are victorious in Jesus the Christ. We have already won.

As believers, we fight from a position of strength and not from a position of weakness. It took me a long time to understand that. Don’t you know we fight from victory? Not for victory, because the battle is already won. We have the victory so we fight from victory. When Jesus cried out on the cross: “It is finished” in John 19:30, Satan was finished. Jesus said this not in defeat, but in victory. With the cross we have victory in Jesus. God is truly worthy to be praised, Hallelujah!

My brothers and sisters in Christ, we have to stay ‘prayed up’ no matter how difficult it gets. We must stay in communication with God, because the enemy’s scheme is that if he can’t destroy you and me. He will aim his attack on the people closest to us that are dear to our hearts. Therefore we have to not just fight for ourselves, but to also operate in spiritual warfare. This means to pray the enemy off your kids, your spouse (or significant other), your parent(s), sister(s), and brother(s). Pray, take authority, and defeat the enemy that’s trying to take over your mind and your life.

When the enemy hears us cry out on the name of Jesus, demons start to tremble and strongholds have to loosen and let go. At the name of Jesus, we send demons back to the pits of darkness from which they come. So please, ‘overcomers’ in Christ Jesus, stay in prayer. Plead the blood of Jesus over your situation. The blood of Jesus is the most powerful weapon we can use. Rebuking the devil in the name of Jesus is the most damaging words to the ears of the devil and his demons.

Fasting is also a spiritual weapon to fight off the enemy. Fasting kills the flesh and brings a spiritual awareness of the power that God has given us. When we fast, we deny ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to overtake everything, including our prayers. The enemy doesn’t like to hear your prayers, so the only way he can cover his ears is to let go of what belongs to you.

The enemy would love to ruin you, but the power to succeed is in your hands. Fight with the power of God and the word of God. Don’t allow the enemy to ruin your life or your family.

Isn’t your family worth fighting for? Isn’t your life worth fighting for? Your health? Your peace of mind? Tell the drugs, the alcohol, the sex addiction, all sins known and unknown: I plead the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah, I have the victory! 1 John 2:17 says: “Whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed, we are perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed,” 2 Corinthians 4: 8-9.

We are the sons and daughters of God through Christ Jesus. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the Sons of God,” Romans 8:14.

I pray to God that the Lord Jesus will keep you and that the Holy Spirit will encourage you with these words. No matter what you may be going through today, as sons and daughters of God our Heavenly Father and believers in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, we are victorious and the battle is already won in the Holy Spirit.
