The Sankofa Dance Troupe will host the first night of Kwanzaa Nashville at Rose Park Middle School.

Are you ready for another EPIC Kwanzaa Celebration? Join one of the nation’s only cities with 7 active days of Kwanzaa. Mark your calendars now, because you don’t wanna miss out on the amazing activities scheduled for the annual holiday observation this year in Nashville.

The 1st Day of Kwanzaa celebrates UMOJA, or Unity. This Kwanzaa Season Sankofa African Drum and Dance is honored to present “Passages”. The stage will be electrifying with special international guest musicians and a dynamic performance that will leave your family inspired and wanting more. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 7 PM, Rose Park Middle School, 1025 9th Ave S, Nashville, Tennessee 37203. Purchase tickets Today via Eventbrite. Tickets will also be sold at the door. The 2nd Day of Kwanzaa- KUJICHAGULIA or “Self-determination” is hosted by the African American Cultural Alliance Nashville. This FREE major annual family Kwanzaa Celebration will be held at St. Luke Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2008 Ed Temple Blvd, Nashville, Tennessee 37208 on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 6 PM – 9 PM.

The 3rd Day of Kwanzaa- UJIMA, or “Collective Work and Responsibility” is hosted by The Great Debate Honor Society. They will present a screening of the movie “The Prince Among Slaves” for those ages 6+ and will have activities for kids 5 & under, also.

The 4th day of Kwanzaa – UJAMAA, or “Cooperative Economics” is hosted by Black Entrepreneurship Week and Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore. The Hub for Urban Entrepreneurship (the creator of Black Entrepreneurship Week), and Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Black Business Expo during the 4th night of Kwanzaa (Ujamaa). They will celebrate their Black Entrepreneurs in Nashville, TN at their Ujamaa Black Business Expo. Proceeds from Vendor fees will benefit Nashville’s Youth About Business. On the 5th day of Kwanzaa, NIA or “Purpose” is well served as the NIA House Montessori invites you to an afternoon of finding purpose within your child, your family and your village. As a pillar in exceptional education in Nashville, NIA House Montessori wants to help guide parents, youth leaders, aunties, uncles, big brothers and sisters on how to see through y(OUR) children’s eyes.

There will be activities for children ages 2- 18, workshops for parents, and sessions for both parents and children. Sunday, December 30, 2018, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM at Ray Of Hope Community Church, 2311 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37217.

The 6th day of Kwanzaa, KUUMBA, or “Creativity” will be observed at Moguls Barber Lounge on Monday, December 31, 2018.

Within us all lies the power to create and the ability to inspire. Join in the celebration of Kuumba (creativity) and explore the many ways that creation can manifest in our lives. A donation of $5 is suggested for entry and suggested attire is “Black Excellence.”

The 7th and final day of Kwanzaa, IMANI, or “Faith” will be observed at an Imani Cypher at Napier Community Center, 73 Fairfield Avenue, Nashville, beginning at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
