Politicon, the highly anticipated “Unconventional Political Convention,” took place last weekend with thousands of attendees filling the Music City Center in Nashville on October 26 and 27. Politicon is the annual, bi-partisan convention that brings together Democrats, Republicans, and people of all political affiliations for a weekend of intelligent, controversial, entertaining and outlandish discussion.

The two-day weekend convention featured debates, panels, discussions, podcasts, and appearances from Al Franken, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Reince Priebus, Marsha Backburn, Donna Brazile, the Baby Trump balloon, Clay Aiken, Shermichael Singleton, Nayyera Haq, Brian Karem, Tomi Lahren, and Tim Wise.

The weekend kicked off with Vanderbilt Vs. TSU: The Impeachment Debate between Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University, and ended with Black In The Age Of Trump — A Live Taping Of The Touré Show, with Touré, April Ryan, Briahna Gray, Elie Mystal, Malcolm Nance, and Maya Wiley.

2020 Republican primary challengers Gov. Bill Weld, Gov. Mark Sanford, and Rep. Joe Walsh, debated and discussed impeachment, immigration and Donald Trump’s presidency on Saturday.

“I believe he is a traitor, and I’m speaking broadly,” Walsh said of Trump. “He betrays this country every single day, and that’s what he did when he told the president of Ukraine to dig up dirt on Joe Biden.”

In “An Evening with Al Franken,” former Senator Al Franken addressed the audience, “The thing about Donald Trump is in addition to being a compulsive liar, a serial conman, a white supremacist and just kind of a jerk, this guy … does not know what he is doing.”

James Comey, former director of the FBI, addressed the current and future state of American leadership by alluding that Trump is a liar. “Our leaders must reflect the glue that holds us together. They can’t be people that lie all the time, they just can’t.”

Former Trump press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, spoke about the president. “I think the president is a role model in being a fighter and being willing to stand up and sometimes stand alone even when it’s not easy,” Sanders said.

A one discussion between Democratic legend James Carville and Fox firebrand Sean Hannity centered around the current state of the nation and the future. Carville stated, “The first thing is, this is the weakest President we have ever had in American history. No one cares what he says. For sure, the Democrats don’t care. They’re going to impeach him. You cannot instill any discipline, unless you have fear. No one is scared of Donald Trump. Y’all are all supporting a very weak, compliant man.”

During the “Head to Head with Donna Brazile and Reince Preibus,” Donna Brazile, former DNC chair, addressed the crowd by saying “We are American citizens and we should respect the process. Stop beating up one another because we disagree. Now, if we can hug each other and talk among ourselves with these big disagreements, why can’t you do that where you live and work too?”
