Promises of God (part 2)

by PRIDE Newsdesk

It’s our faith in God’s promises that will make the promises a reality in our lives. Saying and believing what God says and faith in what Jesus has accomplished will help us to overcome. You must believe and say what’s written in the word about your situation in order to receive. Temptations and doubt will flood your mind, trying to stop you from believing God. But be persistent. Stay with God’s word. If you need help, call on the Holy Spirit. He is your helper. He is your guide for life. He will not leave you or forsake you. He is the one who makes God’s word become alive in your situation. He’s the one who will make God’s word work for you.

God’s promises are for life. They are our comfort, our guide and our strength. There are promises in God’s word for spiritual growth and guidance, promises for personal needs, promises for relationships, promises for our families, promises for an eternal future, and promises for every area of our lives.

God’s promises cannot fail. He has made everything, and all things belong to Him.

God loves us and he has made provisions for everything pertaining to life and godliness for us (2 Peter 1:3). His promises are recorded—not just in one place in the Bible, but throughout His word. “His divine power has given unto us everything we need for life and godliness, so that we can escape the corruption that’s in the world,” 2 Peter 1:3-4. His promises are recorded in both the Old and the New Testaments.

God is unchangeable in His promises. “God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19. We can trust every promise that is in the scripture because God is unchangeable. He is unchangeable in his plans and in his promises for you.

God’s promises are sure. God made a promise to Abraham. Then after Abraham was patient, he was given what God had promised. “So when God wanted to prove for certain that his promises to his people could not be broken, he made a vow. God cannot tell lies! And his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed,” Hebrews 6:17-19. This statement alone should encourage us to take hold of Gods’ promises.

God has promised you, if you put your trust in His Son, that He will forgive your sins (1 John 1:9). He has promised to guide us through life as our shepherd (Psalm 23).

His promises are everlasting. Read and study your Bible daily and discover the many promises that God has just for you.
