Metro Public Health Department Director Dr. Michael Caldwell has issued Public Health Order 12 as Nashville moves to Phase 3 in the roadmap to reopening. Order 12 lifts additional restrictions for businesses and facilities for the safe and responsible reopening. Such operations were previously suspended or limited as a mitigation strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guidance detailed in Order 12 will last 31 days. After that time, conditions will be re-assessed to determine whether advancing to the next phase of operation is safe.
Davidson County’s mask requirements are unchanged, and will remain in effect. Those 65 years of age and older or with underlying health conditions should continue to stay home if possible.
Public and private events with as many as 500 people will be permitted, provided a detailed health plan is submitted to the Metro Public Health Department for approval. The Health Department will determine a safe number of attendees base on risk factors and mitigation strategies outlined in the application.
Order 12 also reduces some restrictions on bars and restaurants, limiting capacity to 50% as determined by Tennessee’s Building and Fire Code, with a maximum of 100 people permitted per floor. Up to 100 additional people can be permitted in an establishment’s outdoor area, provided social distancing practices are in place. Closing time remains 11pm for on-premises consumption. These guidelines apply to bars and restaurants equally.
Businesses and entities permitted to open during previous phases such as gyms, hair salons and retail stores can operate at the same capacity restrictions as existed in the modified Phase 2. Sporting events played at Nissan Stadium must adhere to the Nissan Stadium Safe Stadium Plan. “Transportainment” vehicles will be permitted to accommodate up 25 people, or 50% of their capacity, whichever is lower.
Public Health Order 12 began at midnight on October 1, 2020 and will remain in effect until November 1, 2020, unless otherwise extended. For more information visit the COVID19.nashville.gov website.
