Join the realtists of the Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) on Saturday, August 28, 2021 for Home Ownership Day in Watkins Park at 2pm. This day was created to bring education, financial planning services and employment opportunities free of charge to the great city of Nashville.
“We hope to use this day as a chance to connect and re-connect the people with the professionals at the stage in life that they currently are and not where we would all like to be,” says Rob Sergio McEwen, Nashville Chapter President of NAREB. “As individuals that have made up an underserved community for decades, we currently cannot choose to remain under educated when it comes to financial literacy and wealth building strategy.”
The event offers real estate and insurance employment opportunities, down payment assistance, veterans resources, credit and mortgage counseling, credit repair, crash courses on financial empowerment and legacy building, free food, a kids zone, gift cards and other prizes. Sponsors of this event are Country Financial, Bell Law and THDA. The event runs from 2 pm until 5 pm at Watkins Park, 616—17th Avenue North in Nashville. If the weather is bad, the event will be re-scheduled for September 11, 2021.
“We want to celebrate the growth of home ownership in the African American community as we continue to cultivate opportunity to create even more homeowners.” Latonya Martin, Regional Vice President of NAREB. “We will have credit counselors, mortgage lenders, Real Estate Professionals and Title Companies on site to offer advice, as well as free food and drinks.”
LaTonya Martin is also CEO & Managing Broker of Grande Style Homes, and is totally committed to assisting first-time home buyers. Her new company Community First Title offers modern options to the real estate closing process. This Black-owned, female-owned company uses technology to separate itself from other local title companies and leverages technology to streamline and secure the closing process while enhancing the overall transactional experience.
Martin saw the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the process of closing real estate transactions. She realized it was the perfect opportunity to develop processes that would reduce the time, cost, and complexity of completing real estate transactions while providing modern mobile solutions. Thus she is introducing digital closing solutions, such as remote online closings and video conferencing equipped closings, which have seen increased demand from agents and their clients even before the pandemic.
“In our local area there are not a lot of women owned title companies, especially one owned by a Black woman,” she said. “My experience having a Black-owned boutique real estate brokerage taught me it is important to always provide the same services, access, and options to customers provided by larger businesses. With Community First Title we plan on representing that same vision while providing an experience that is user friendly.”
