Early vote for the May 3 election runs thru April 28

Early voting is available until April 28. Election day is May 3.

Early voting for the Davidson County May primary election began on Wednesday, April 13.

Candidates for county clerk, district attorney general, public defender, register of deeds, trustee, sheriff, circuit court clerk, criminal court clerk, juvenile court clerk, chancery court judge, circuit court judge, criminal court judge, general session judge, and juvenile court judge are on the ballot, seeking their party’s nomination for the general election in August.

This year marks the first year that school board candidates will be running in partisan races.

The primary will be on May 3, with the general election occurring on August 4.

Polling officials encourage residents to take advantage of early voting.  Early voting offers the flexibility of evening and Saturday hours, along with multiple polling locations.

“If you registered recently, don’t be discouraged if your name isn’t on the list at the polling place,” said one official. “We recommend voting early so you can work out any issues.”.

Voters can download the GoVoteTN app, available in the App Store or Google Play, to view voter-specific information. Voters can find early voting and Election Day polling locations, view and mark sample ballots and much more. The platform is also available at GoVoteTN.com.

Residents voting early or on Election Day should remember to bring valid photo identification with them to the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security as well as photo IDs issued by Tennessee state government or the federal government are acceptable even if they are expired. College student IDs are not acceptable.

This week, Early voters may vote in person in the Sonny West Conference Room at the Howard Office Builidng at 700 Second Ave. S.

Starting on Wednesday, April 20, 11 additional locations will open across the county:

Belle Meade City Hall at 4705 Harding Pike

Bellevue Library at 720 Baugh Road

Bordeaux Library at 4000 Clarksville Pike

Casa Azafrán Community Center at 2195 Nolensville Pike

Edmondson Pike Library at 5501 Edmondson Pike

Goodlettsville Community Center at 200 Memorial Drive

Green Hills Library at 3701 Benham Avenue

Hermitage Library at 3700 James Kay Lane

Howard Office Building at 700 2nd Avenue South

Madison Library at 610 Gallatin Pike South

Southeast Library at 5260 Hickory Hollow Pkwy

Early voting ends on Thursday, April 28. On Election Day, citizens must vote at their assigned polling place.
