‘Life Church’ (part 2)
Matthew 16:18

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

As ‘Life Church,’ we must know who Jesus is.

Life Church is knowing Jesus and the mission He was sent here to do.

Who do you say that Christ is as Life Church?

Notice afterward how He questions His disciples concerning who He is?

Peter makes His ‘great confession’ as to who Christ is. Peter was way ahead of some of the apostles in making this confession. Remember it was Peter that spent so much time with Jesus and would therefore have a better relationship and knowledge of who Jesus might be. The ‘great confession’ of Peter was a confession that revealed the knowledge of who Jesus was in the revelation of Him being divine, and co-equal with God. Not as God the father, but God the Son that came down and was made incarnate as a man, the God-man in the earth.

The concept which Peter had must come together in his mind and make sense. For who else could Jesus be but God the Son, the Messiah that has come in flesh?

“Simon Peter answered and said, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed are you Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto you, but my Father which is in heaven,” Matthew16:16-17.

Peter had this truth from the Father, through the Spirit of God. It is a blessed thing to be given a spiritual ability by God to understand the things of the Spirit of God.

“Blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desire to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it,”  Matthew 13:16-17.

This is why you are called blessed when you hear and obey the Spirit of God as Life Church. We are the church and act according to the Spirit which leads and guides us. Just as Simon Peter did in the text. We must have our eyes and ears blessed to understand and speak Life.

So I say to you Life Church that you are Peter: and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hell or Hades shall not prevail or overpower you. Upon you Peter I will build my church; upon your rock I will build my foundation. For I need someone that will hear my voice so when the enemy comes against you, you will not fall or give in. This does not make you infallible. I am the only one that is infallible. You are in me, and I’m in you. As Peter abides in God, God abides within him enabling supernatural insight into the things that must be done in the earth (Matthew 16:18).

So upon you I can build my church, not seeking your own. You are the caretaker over the work and I can trust you. I can trust you to teach the flock the importance of seeking the Lord’s guidance. I can trust you to not be a religious organization but rather a living spiritual organism, and to teach the saints to walk in a unique function that will keep the body (church) healthy—as a healthy church!

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. And whatsoever you will loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven,” Matthew16:19).

The keys that I will give you will bring people into the kingdom of heaven with the message of salvation. My church is about saving souls. My church will keep a people close to me. With the keys, the church will stay together.

Keep this revelation of who I am within you. Teach the word of my father to people so that they will know for themselves.

Teach these things: 1) theology (the word, the nature of God’s divine order); 2) Christology (Christ as the Messiah: the person, nature, and role of Christ); pneumatology (the Holy Spirit, the breath of God, the influence, the helper).

In this day and time in which we live, we need rocks—people that will be a rock in the earth. You have the keys to be a rock—no more being looked down upon; it’s time to go up. So I call out to the rocks of this age and time. Stand up and be strong, brave, determined, a warrior.

For you are the Life Church and the healthy church!
