John and wife Lora, with daughters Dorian and Parker.

John Manson is a native Nashvillian with a love for serving his community. He is an experienced jurist and has served as a judicial officer in Probate, Family, and criminal courts. As Special Probate Master, he heard complex estate and guardianship matters, and he also presided over a docket to help simple matters move quickly through the court system.

Probate Court often involves people dealing with the loss of a loved one or the care of a family member unable to care for themselves. John has the demeanor to treat people with respect and care, and has the ability to explain complicated situations, and is thoughtful and compassionate. He has mastered this skill over the years in family court and in Night Court, where he served as a Magistrate for over four years.

Probate matters make up a large portion of his legal practice, and that knowledge will be invaluable to the city.

John is married to Lora, and they have two amazing daughters, Dorian and Parker. He received his BA in Music Performance from Morehouse College, and his law degree from Howard University. Outside of the legal profession, John still finds himself serving the Nashville community. He is a member of the choir at Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church, and he currently serves on two non-profit boards, Epic Girl and the Nashville Repertory Theatre.
