African American artists will be in Nashville for CMA Fest

by PRIDE Newsdesk

The PRIDE presents these African American artists who will be in Nashville this month to perform during CMA Fest 2022. Nashville, Black Music Month, and the CMA have a joint history. During a visit to Nashville in the 1970s, Kenny Gamble was inspired by what the CMA was doing and formed the Black Music Association in 1978. They then created Black Music Month, and launched it on June 1, 1979 with a celebration at the White House hosted by President Jimmy Carter. In 2009, President Barack Obama declared the month of June to be African American Music Appreciation Month.
