The 148th Commencement Exercises of Meharry Medical College are Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 9 a.m., in The Grand Ole Opry House. Homecoming and Reunion 2023 activities for graduates of all Meharry Schools, including Medical, Dental, Graduate and (historic) Nursing run Wednesday May 17 through Sunday, May 21. Homecoming and Reunion host hotel is the JW Marriott Nashville.
Dr. David M. Carlisle, the Commencement Speaker, has been President and CEO of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in the Watts-Willowbrook area of Los Angeles County since 2011. Dr. Carlisle is a published author in health policy, quality of care, medical education diversity and elimination of health disparities. A board-certified internal medicine specialist, President Carlisle received his B.A. from Wesleyan University, his M.D. from Brown University and his MPH and Ph.D. in health services from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Homecoming and Reunion 2023 celebrates graduating Classes from 1948, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018. Host hotel is the JW Marriott Nashville, with overflow at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.
