TN-MMC HBCU Wellness Project announces annual health and wellness expo, advocating ‘Wellness Begins with We’

The TN-MMC HBCU Wellness Project, in collaboration with West Eastland Church of Christ proudly announces the return of its highly anticipated Community Health and Wellness EXPO, focusing on the empowering theme ‘Wellness Begins With We.’ The EXPO will take place Saturday, June 29, from 11 am to 3 pm, at 342 W. Eastland Avenue, Gallatin, Tennessee 37066.

The EXPO will showcase over 25 prominent health and wellness organizations, offering a diverse array of resources and expertise. Additionally, families can enjoy engaging children’s activities and take advantage of fresh produce and many giveaways. The EXPO is completely free of charge.

Project Director Lisa McGee expressed her excitement, stating: “Year after year, we’ve witnessed the profound impact of the EXPO on rural communities. We’re thrilled to return to Gallatin with an expanded lineup of vendors and sponsors.” McGee extended gratitude to collaborators at Meharry Medical College and highlighted the vital partnership with West Eastland Church of Christ, Purposed Life, Regions Bank, and TN CEAL (Community Engaged Alliance), emphasizing their “…shared commitment to enhancing community health outcomes through active engagement.”

This year’s EXPO promises to be an enriching experience, including:

●   Pediatric and adult health and wellness screenings

●   Basic dental screenings

●   Preventive health disparity information

●   Emotional wellness sessions

●   Produce available for completed surveys

●   Financial counseling and financial literacy

●   Children’s activities

●   LEARN CPR (CPR training)

●   Employment opportunities

●   Education (information for K-12 parents)

●   Insurance (for uninsured and underinsured)

●   Voter registration

●   Passport survey feedback

●   Door prizes

●   Lunch provided
