Tennessee State Museum Juneteenth Celebration Saturday, June 15

Juneteenth is a celebration for everyone. Tennessee State Museum invites visitors to enjoy musical guests, tours of the galleries, and speakers. While Juneteenth is officially celebrated on June 19, the Tennessee State Museum will celebrate the day with a daylong event on Saturday, June 15.

Schedule of Events

Children’s Juneteenth craft activities run from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, and 2:00 p.m. – 3:30p.m.

Storytime with Tonya Abari in the Children’s Gallery, 10:30 a.m. Tonya Abari will read her children’s book, “Let’s Celebrate Juneteenth.” Tonya “T.T.” Abari is a multigenre storyteller – author, independent journalist, freelance editor, and book reviewer for both children and adults. Hands on History in the galleries of Forging a Nation, Civil War, and Change and Challenge – run from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, and 2:00 p.m. – 3:00p.m.

United States Colored Troops (USCT) Hands on History with Gary Burke in the Civil War Gallery  events at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Entertainment Hour in the Digital Learning Center with music from the Radiance Twins, Roz Malone, Intersection, Cremona Strings, and poetry by Simba Alik and Jems Destine runs from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m.
