“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but you of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7.
Fear is a normal response to danger or hate. Wherever there is hate, there is fear. That’s because hate is fear driven. Hate will keep you from fulfilling the destiny that God has for your life. Hate will keep you from living a joyful, Holy Spirit led life. There will never be joy or the overflow of joy if there is hate. This is why we have so many fractions in our lives–because hate is fear driven.
Fractions: fragments, spots, scraps, bits and pieces. Every time you look around there are fragments of hate and fear, spots of hate and fear, scraps of hate and fear and bits and pieces of hate and fear. The enemy wants to shift your thanking from power and love, to hate and fear which is a total waste of time. If he can get you to waste time, he can control your destiny. Satan is the destroyer of destiny. If he can stop you from fulfilling the will of God for your life, he has control over you.
If the spirit of darkness has control over you, you will become war centered. You will promote violence, hate and fear. Whenever a person doesn’t know where they are going and doesn’t know what to do with their life, fear will grip there heart.
The result causes fear of others moving ahead; fear of other cultures moving ahead; and seeing purpose in others and not in ourself. When you feel hatred toward a person or a group, you are bound. Your life is bound; your mind is bound. You’re trapped and your family is trapped. This is how generational curses come onto a people. This is why you must be careful what you say and what you do. Whatever your ancestors did, believed, or practiced in the past (or even now), there are consequences of their actions, beliefs, and sins that are being passed down. Racial discrimination, prejudice towards others, and treating others unfavorably come to the surface. We are afraid, afraid that someone is going to move ahead of us. So we become out-of-control; we become unruly, unmanageable. The enemy has us trapped. We show no compassion, love, joy, or peace towards others or towards ourselves. This is a stronghold that is passed on from one generation to another.
So who will break this stronghold or curse? This is passed on to your children’s children. Who will end these curses over our lives and family?
What can we do to stop it?
In Paul’s letter to Timothy, he encourages him to not focus on the suffering and the persecution, but focus on the spiritual gift that God has given us through the Holy Spirit. Timothy was timid and content. Paul encourages him to have spiritual strength and bravery: ‘Timothy, you need to be outspoken as a leader and say what God tells you to say. You need to stand strong rather than standing in fear. God has given you His spirit, attitude, power, and love with self-control.
Power has always been an important part of God’s work in the church. God gives you His power, love, and self-control. He expects you to use it, hold to it, and live by it. If you don’t do so, you aren’t really surrounded by godliness—because you are denying God’s power. People who do not utilize God’s power are to be avoided. They have a cowardly spirit. They are afraid of men and devils, of what they will say and do. This is why so many are deterred from the work of the Lord.
