Malone Studios Dance Academy is proud to present “Living the Legacy” 25th Anniversary Showcase featuring THE CORE, Tennessee’s Premier Aerial Silks Company, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, for two shows, 1 pm and 7 pm, in James K. Polk Theater at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) in Nashville. With a cast of over 25 professionally trained aerialists, acrobats and dancers, the showcase will excite and amaze audiences of all ages with entertaining acrobatics, tumbling, hip hop and much more during the Juneteenth holiday weekend.

Malone Studios Dance Academy is the only urban youth aerial silks dance company in Tennessee with performers ranging in age from 8-21. Their mission is to improve access to fine arts education and training for inner city youth, and share the arts theatre experience with underexposed communities throughout the world with sold out performances for over 20 years.

“I’ve seen first-hand that Malone Studios is more than just a dance studio, it’s a place where young people particularly African American youth can learn, grow and express themselves in a creative and nurturing environment,” said Sharon Gentry, whose daughters have participated in the program over the years. “The confidence that the students gain as their talent, skills and strength grows is visible and shows up in every aspect of their lives. This program is an invaluable asset to the Nashville community and that is a testament to the vision, commitment, and leadership of the program director, Cindi Malone Lindsey.”

HCA Healthcare / Tristar Health Broadway at TPAC presents 1776 in Andrew Jackson Hall, June 20-25. What will it take to get two dozen powerfully passionate, exceedingly complicated, and all-too-human individuals to settle their differences, while they hold the very future of a nation in their hands? The Tony Award-winning Best Musical 1776 catapults to blazing new life in a thrillingly new production from directors Jeffrey L. Page (Violet) and Diane Paulus (Waitress).

Suddenly, the songs, humor, and passion of this musical masterpiece soar as never before. A glorious cast, featuring 17 Broadway revival cast members who reflect multiple representations of race, gender, and ethnicity, portrays the fiery founders of this country, putting history in the hands of the humans who were left out the first time around—and the result is an epic show of passion, debate, and roof-raising musical fireworks. Experience “a 1776 worth celebrating!” You may never think about our country—who we are and why—the same way again.
